 DMU

circa late 1960s

Darlington depot with at least 35 DMU vehicles in view. All but three are Met-Camms, those three can be seen in the row on the left and have two rows of vents on the roof rather than three. They are still airvac vents, so they are probably BRC&W vehicles. The mix of green and blue liveries suggest this is the late sixties, possibly a Sunday since there are so many vehicles on shed. Darlington station can be seen in the background. Graham Clark.

A number of Class 101 units are seen in Darlington DMU depot (DN) that was to the north of the station in May 1976. It had an allocation of mainly Class 101s for local services around Teesside, until the mid-1980s, from when all the north-east's DMUs were concentrated at Heaton (HT) depot, Newcastle. Graeme Phillips Collection.

The first stop on a shed and stabling point tour, by coach, on 10 September 1977 was Darlington. This is the view of the location looking south, with Darlington station in the background. The shed was full of DMUs, mostly of Classes 101/104. There were also 10 x Class 08s present, two of which can be seen on the right. Lewis Bevan.
